Copper River waters delivered upwards of 442,000 sockeye and 10,554 Chinook salmon through the first nine openers, as more salmon fisheries began opening elsewhere in Prince William Sound, Cook Inlet and the Lower Yukon.
Weights on the Copper River harvest by the ninth opener were averaging 18.8 pounds for kings, 5.2 pounds for sockeyes, 7.5 pounds for cohos, 8 pounds for humpies and 6.6 pounds for chums, according to data provided by the Cordova office of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
Deliveries from Prince William Sound as of June 12 included 39 deliveries from the Bering River, totaling 43 kings and 7,965 reds; 246 deliveries from Eshamy Main Bay, totaling 24 kings and 6,457 reds; 667 deliveries from the Coghill district totaling 37 kings and 1,888 reds; 41 deliveries from the Montague district, of 2 kings and 32 reds; and 25 deliveries from the Prince William Sound Southwestern district, of 6 kings and 27 reds.
