Cold Raises Price Of La. Crabs, Crawfish

Local seafood restaurants and markets are expecting some big business today, on this first Friday of Lenten season.

However two local favorites are going to be expensive, and hard to find.

The cold winter have the crawfish and crabs in hiding, according to Harlon Pearce spokesman for the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board.

“Crabs and crawfish need the warm weather but the shrimp, oysters and fin fish are going to be strong right now,” Pearce said.
