Black Sea Bass Season To Reopen For Three Weeks In NY

ALBANY, N.Y. – New York is reopening its commercial fishery for black sea bass for three weeks starting Friday.

The Department of Environmental Conservation had looked at opening the commercial season for the Atlantic coastal fish in May, but there were quota issues. The federal government sets limits based on harvest and population data.

State officials say they are seeking regulatory changes that will create more opportunities for New York’s commercial fishermen.
