Alaska's commercial salmon harvest by mid-September grew to nearly 269 million fish, far above the previous record of 221.9 million salmon in 2005.
The pink harvest of 216,143 fish also was way beyond the previous record of 161 million humpies in 2005.
Preliminary harvest totals published by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game also put the sockeye salmon catch at 29,528,000 fish, the silver harvest at 4,914,000 fish and the Chinook harvest at 307,000 fish.
This is the fifth year of harvests over 200 million fish and now nearly 70 million fish over the previous record.
