NFI's inaugural Global Seafood Marketing ConferenceTM, is being held January 24-26, 2012 at the Trump International, Miami, Florida. The Conference will provide NFI members with information on the economic, social and demographic trends and changes that will affect international seafood markets. During the conference, seafood markets will be segregated into individual market levels based on the price points in which they compete. An analysis of the key factors that affect consumer demand for each market level will be presented to NFI members.
The conference will feature an intensive review and discussion of the major marketing challenges and price trends for 2012 for the four primary seafood product groups:
•Shrimp
•Whitefish (including tilapia, pangasius)
•Salmon
•Other shellfish (including crab and lobster).
The conference will provide a view of the opportunities and pitfalls for supplying and purchasing products of the major species groups for the coming year. It is the only conference of its kind in the U.S – and is not to be missed. Whitefish price ladderTM: In this example of a price ladderTM, in 2011 no cod or domestic catfish fillet products were readily available at the $3.00 – $3.25 price point, whereas they had been for the past three years. A buyer had to either adjust to higher prices; or buy a substitute species such as tilapia or pangasius. At NFI’s 2012 GSM, participants will determine a view of the opportunities and pitfalls for supplying and purchasing the major species groups in the coming year.
