16 Rhode Island Oyster Farms Compete In A Different March Madness

BRISTOL — Bracket madness has reached the bivalves.

The Bristol Oyster Bar has launched an ambitious plan to pit 16 Rhode Island oyster farms against each other. The restaurant is making it easy for diners to place a friendly wager, taste local oysters and select their favorite. And they promise prizes, too.

Oyster Madness is the brainchild of Bristol Oyster Bar general manager Scott Pinocci, in partnership with Ocean State Shellfish Cooperative and M.S. Walker of Rhode Island, a wine and spirits distributor.

"We want to see who has the best oyster in all of Rhode Island," said Pinocci.
