While the Villarreal family gets ready to open a new El Rey grocery store near S. 52nd St. and Oklahoma Ave., it's also preparing to turn the page.
The original Super Mercado El Rey at 1023 S. Chavez Drive that the family opened in 1978 will close on Sunday, said Olivia Villarreal, one of the owners.
"It's been 34 years, and that store fed us all," Villarreal said.
