Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. said it has signed an exclusive agreement for an undisclosed amount for a company to conduct a deep cleaning and sanitizing of shopping carts, hand baskets, handicap carts, food trays and other equipment.
The Green Secure Solutions process includes cleaning shopping carts and other equipment with a high-temperature, pressurized shower sterilized with hydrogen peroxide and ultraviolet light, Winn-Dixie said in a news release. Once the carts are dry, technicians electrostatically apply Bioshield 75, a water-based product that creates a highly durable coating that bonds to surfaces. The process will be completed on all specified Winn-Dixie equipment every six months.
Winn-Dixie (Nasdaq: WINN), based in Jacksonville, operates 484 grocery stores throughout the Southeast. It is the only grocer in the nation receiving the Green Secure Solutions product.
