Aldi is on a major growth tear — and its expansion plans have the potential to shake up the Florida grocery market.
The German discount grocer is winning the pricing war against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT), Bloomberg reports.
Aldi stores are much smaller than Wal-Mart's stores — even the Neighborhood Market format feels massive compared to Aldi. (Typical Aldi stores are around 18,000 square feet; an average Neighborhood Market is more than double, around 38,000 square feet.)
