It’s taken several years, but Natick is finally getting its own Wegmans supermarket this month. Expect employees to give their customary cheer when the doors open on April 29.
Wegmanites who live in Boston, though, will have to keep waiting.
Chairman Danny Wegman knew breaking into Boston would be tough — he actually said as much to the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce back in 2012. But he didn’t know how tough. A Wegmans proposal in the Fenway fell apart last year after Samuels & Associates changed course for its Landmark Center redevelopment. Samuels rethought its original plan to demolish the Landmark garage, making it harder to fit a big supermarket into the picture.
