The grocery wars are heating up, but it’s not supermarkets making the major moves these days.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Target Corp. are rolling out smaller stores and beefing up their focus on grocery sales. Wal-Mart’s search for sites is said to include Sacramento, and Target already has started expanding food sections at its local stores.
Nationally, drugstore chains Walgreen Co. and CVS Caremark Corp., as well as dollar stores and 7-Eleven Inc., are looking to groceries or prepared meals to boost sales
