CORPUS CHRISTI — Work has begun to prepare Corpus Christi's three new Walmart Supercenters for shoppers by late October.
The same workers who will assist customers with locating and purchasing merchandise are arranging and stocking shelves, unloading trucks at the rate of one every two hours and putting finishing touches on each store.
At the new Walmart Supercenter at 6161 Saratoga Blvd., the work has been a 24-hour operation with a peak of 120 employees helping each day, store manager Jeff Boley said.
The work there began two weeks ago and will continue until the scheduled Oct. 26 opening, Boley said.
"It's amazing how it comes together so quickly," Boley said.
