Vince’s Market First Grocer In Canada To Serve Customers With Free Biodegradable Bags

This Easter weekend, when you are making shopping decisions to serve your family and friends, there is another great reason to shop at Vince’s Market.

Vince’s Market is now the first major grocer in Canada to serve customers with fully biodegradable bags – free of charge.

“We are a grocer that is built upon serving our customers fresh, quality food in a convenient way.  Further, we are committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve.  Giving harmful plastic bags away to our customers to carry their groceries was not meeting that expectation,” noted Giancarlo Trimarchi.

As you can guess, biodegradable bags are more costly then the traditional plastic bags, but, Vince’s Market is remaining committed to not charging customers for their bags.

The bags are produced out of a bio hybrid resin comprised of 70% sustainable and renewable plant starch that creates a new molecular structure that is 100% biodegradable in approximately 15 months.

Mr. Trimarchi concluded, “Our stores are open each day this weekend, and we are looking forward to introducing these bags to our customers. Seeing the long term positive impact this decision is going to make in the smaller communities we serve is going to be worth the investment.”
