PLANO — Less than a year after In-N-Out Burger made its Texas debut, another West Coast institution is ready to tackle the Lone Star State.
California-based Trader Joe's announced Thursday it will be opening a store in Plano, located at the northeast corner of Preston Road and Park Boulevard. The store will take up 15,000 square feet in a building that previously housed a Kroger store.
"There are a lot of foodies there and it is a wonderful community," said company spokeswoman Alison Mochizuki about the decision to open a Plano location. "We look forward to being there."
Mochizuki said the Plano store should open in the second quarter of 2012, but an exact date has not been set. She said three other Texas locations should open in 2012, including one on Hulen Street in Fort Worth and one on Lower Greenville in Dallas. The fourth Texas store is located in The Woodlands.
