SALEM, N.H.– Standex Refrigerated Solutions Group (Master-Bilt Products and Nor-Lake, Inc.) is pleased to announce an implemented strategy to meet the updated Department of Energy Refrigeration Standards. In compliance with the 2017 D.O.E.’s new refrigeration standards, all Standex Refrigerated Solution Group products will meet or exceed the requirements before the mandated conversion deadlines. Self-contained products, including reach-in units and all applicable refrigerated cabinets, will meet D.O.E. 2017 standards by the March 27 deadline. Walk-in units will meet the Walk-In Cooler Freezer (W.I.C.F.) standards, at the component level, by the June 5 deadline.
Standex conducted extensive, comprehensive tests on over 280 refrigeration cabinets, which included over 130 Master-Bilt refrigeration units and 150 Nor-Lake refrigeration units, reviewed the results and made the necessary changes to meet or exceed the 2017 D.O.E. requirements. Energy efficient changes included redesigned motors, compressors and glass doors. Changes were also made to controller panels to provide energy efficient operating modes. The Standex group redesigned the air flow systems within certain self-contained cabinets to reduce warm air infiltration, reducing energy consumption caused by opening and closing of unit doors.
Standex Refrigeration Solutions Group’s walk-in units are constructed with four-inch thick foamed-in-place polyurethane insulated panels already meeting the minimum W.I.C.F. Standards for R-value requirements.
“Standex is dedicated to providing the most environmentally friendly equipment while still providing optimum energy efficiency. We did the necessary research and are confident in the results,” said Vice President of Foodservice Sales for Standex Refrigerated Solutions Group, Barb Belongia.
