South Dakota Pork Producers Council Honors Restaurant For Outstanding Pork Entrées

SIOUX FALLS, SD – Through its Restaurant of the Year Award, the South Dakota Pork Producers Council (SDPPC) recognizes restaurant owners and managers for their efforts in preparing and promoting quality pork products. This year 1481 Grille of Arlington received this award on January 9, 2014 during the 45th Annual Pork Congress Awards Luncheon at the Sioux Falls Ramkota.

The 1481 Grille opened in 2007 and is owned by Jason and Shelly Parker. The restaurant is named after the two famous highways it is located on, US Highway 14 and US Highway 81, on the edge of Arlington, SD. Patrick Parker is the head chef and enjoys using different pork products in his dishes. He uses unique combinations, locally sourced pork, and original sauces to give the customers a new experience each time they order one of the pork dishes. Jason & Patrick have competed in the Taste of elegance several times, using several different cuts of pork over the years. Jason has been in the restaurant business for over 20 years. He served as a head chef & general manager at some of the areas most popular restaurants before he and Shelly bought the 1481 Grille. Jason & Patrick have served as mentors in the SD Retailers Association sponsored High School Pro-Start program; including the 2013 South Dakota Team that placed fourth in the National competition in Baltimore Maryland.
