Supervalu Inc., the parent company of Save-a-Lot, the grocery chain based in Earth City, said Save-a-Lot President Ritchie Casteel’s employment will end effective March 11.
Supervalu, according to a regulatory filing Monday, does not intend to hire a replacement for the position. The company gave no other information regarding Casteel’s pending departure.
Casteel had served as president and CEO of Save-a-Lot from February 2013 until the end of last year, when Eric Claus was hired to take over as CEO in January. Casteel stayed on as president, reporting to Claus.
