Safeway, Albertsons Launch Delivery Service, Online Ordering In Metro Denver

An old idea is new again as Safeway announced Wednesday that it will start delivering groceries in metro Denver.

Customers of Safeway and sister grocery chain Albertsons can make their orders online at www.safeway.com or via a Safeway app available on Apple iOS and Google Android devices.

The supermarket chain will deploy about a dozen trucks in the Denver area, from Lone Tree to Boulder, to make the deliveries — even frozen items can be delivered.

“Safeway has offered grocery delivery in various [other] markets with tremendous success," said Todd Broderick, president of the Denver division. "Our customers in Denver were a driving force in expanding the service here as we had more requests for home delivery in Denver than any other city Safeway serves.”
