MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin's largest farm organization says retail food prices in early 2010 were up only slightly from the same period last year.
The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation tracks the average price of 20 food items over time. It says the total for those items in the first quarter of 2010 added up to a little over $53. That was less than a 1 percent increase from the first three months of last year.
The largest increases were for items including sliced bacon, whole chicken, chicken breast and potatoes.
