Paragon Foods has a new reason to expand into the new larger facility it is building in Warrendale.
The local food purveyor announced Tuesday it has reached an agreement to buy John V. Heineman Co., a 105-year-old gourmet food supplier that ranks among the region’s oldest companies.
The deal, which is expected to close early in the new year, matches the region’s largest local distributor of fresh foods to restaurants and other food service providers with a specialty food company that offers a wide variety of gourmet food ingredients includes coffees and teas, oils and vinegars and bakery supplies.
