Supermarket operator Piggly Wiggly Midwest and employees at the company's unionized stores throughout Wisconsin have signed a new contract, ending a labor dispute that threatened to close the chain's flagship Sheboygan store.
The company and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1473, in a joint statement, announced the signing of new multiyear contracts. The statement didn't provide details about the settlement's terms.
As part of the settlement, all unfair labor practice charges against Piggly Wiggly pending before the National Labor Relations Board and in federal court have been resolved, the statement said.
The union and company also thanked Sheboygan Mayor Terry Van Akkeren for his assistance in helping them reach the agreement, which ensures that the store, at 3124 S. Business Drive, will remain open.
