Oregon Picked For Healthy School Lunch Pilot Program

PORTLAND, Ore. — Many more locally grown fruits and veggies are heading to the school lunch tables across Oregon.

Oregon has been chosen by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as one of eight states to take part in a pilot program to bring more locally grown produce into schools.

It's something Portland Public Schools has already been doing for years.

Every day, the district serves its kids a fresh fruit and vegetable from local growers. Soon, schools across the state will have the opportunity to do the very same thing.
