nuSpoon Announces A New Sampling Spoon, The nuSpoon Taster

SMYRNA, GA:  Packaging manufacturer nuSpoon (www.nuSpoon.com), maker of the award-winning and eco-friendly nuSpoon, announces a new sampling spoon, the nuSpoon Taster.  The revolutionary nuSpoon Taster is made from smooth, sustainable and compostable paperboard, similar to a coffee cup.  In two simple folds, nuSpoon Tasters are  ready for the liquidiest of foods.

Who are you?  What do you want to say with your food?

Today’s consumers are more demanding than ever. They want organic. They want healthy. They want sustainability.  In other words, they want it all.

Food brings people together.  The USDA shows a 471% increase in the number of farmers markets in the last 10 years.   This doesn’t include the cooking demos, food festivals, and cooking competitions where chefs and vendors are sampling their foods.

The nuSpoon Taster offers chefs and vendors a way to sample their food that is simple and sustainable.  Using nuSpoon Tasters reduces plastic waste and they are easier to transport; a box holding 1000 plastic spoons holds 5000 nuSpoon tasters.

The secret sauce is nuSpoon’s  patent pending fold. This fold allows nuSpoon Tasters to be packaged flat and efficiently and to hold soup when folded.

“We stopped using paper sampling utensils because they wouldn't hold liquid, but when Matt showed me the nuSpoon Taster, I knew it would be perfect” Said Jennie Rae (oohlarawlife.com)  “as soon as you show anyone how to fold it, they want to use it to taste your food”

nuSpoon’s founder, Marine Corps veteran Matt Brooks, came up with the idea to create a paper spoon in 2008 after a surf in La Jolla, CA.  “Sergeant Beard came up to me, chocolate all over his face, holding a half eaten pint of ice-cream, asking me if I had a spoon”, said Matt.  “I wrote down the problem in my invention journal that night when I got back to the barracks.”  It wasn’t until 2010 when he returned from his second deployment that Matt created the first iteration.  “I meditated on the problem for a while before solving it.”  After years of folding spoons, experimenting with materials, and networking with industry innovators, nuSpoon Tasters are ready for release.   Matt continues, “Food brings people together.  Maybe nuSpoon Tasters will spark a conversation about plastic waste and we can solve this problem…  Either way, I hope the food tastes good!”
