Nueske’s Smoked Chicken Breast Wins Gold sofi Award

WITTENBERG, Wis. — Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats has again captured a Gold sofi Award from the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade. The Applewood Smoked Chicken Breast was named the winner in the "Outstanding Perishable Foodservice Product" category.

Nueske's was named one of the Gold Award winners at the 40th anniversary of the sofi Awards at the recent Summer Fancy Food Show in Washington, D.C.

The Nueske family has been creating their award-winning applewood smoked specialties since 1933 in the tiny village of Wittenberg, Wisconsin.  Today, the company remains (third generation) family-owned and operated and is known for its applewood smoked bacon, which is praised by chefs and food lovers across the country.

Like the applewood smoked bacon, each chicken breast is smoked slowly over glowing embers of sweet Wisconsin applewood logs to create tender, juicy chicken breasts that are ready to eat right out of the package.

Tanya Nueske, granddaughter of the company's founder, says the Gold sofi Award is very special.  "We are so appreciative that so many people already know about and enjoy our bacon," Nueske said.  "It's great to receive this award for one of our up-and-coming products with such outstanding flavor and high quality.  We take great pride in all of our products and it's very rewarding to see that others agree."

Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats has earned six gold medals from the N.A.S.F.T., including four Gold sofis for its nationally-acclaimed applewood smoked bacon (2001, 2006, 2009, 2010) in the "Outstanding Meat, Pate, or Seafood" category.
