New Walmart Distribution Center To Bring Thousands Of Jobs To Yucatan

Yucatan is “in the sights” of Walmart, a commercial transnational company that has decided to invest $1.2 billion USD in the construction of distribution centers in the Peninsula to improve the supply of stores of five brands operating in the area. Yucatan would have at least one of these logistics centers.

The moves are expected to generate about 10 thousand jobs in the region.

The director of Corporate Communication Walmart Mexico and Central America, Antonio Ocaranza Fernandez, reported that the group has a line of five businesses: in Yucatan they already have 39 commercial spaces and this year they will open their store number 40 in Mérida, which will involve an investment of 3.4 billion pesos and more than 3,500 direct jobs.
