Mega Mart is set to open its first U.S. location in metro Atlanta on Oct. 8.
Mega Mart at Gwinnett Place, which offers groceries and family apparel in 150,000 square feet on two levels of Gwinnett Place mall in Duluth, joins 13 other Mega Mart stores across Asia, including 10 in Korea and three in China.
Store offerings also include prepared meals, fresh baked breads and a sushi counter.
Although Mega Mart is in an area that has a strong Asian community, Mega Mart wants to reach a broader customer, said Mike Choi, purchasing manager and a senior executive of Mega Mart, which announced it was coming to metro Atlanta two years ago.
"As a corporation, we're not looking for just an Asian population," he said. "We came here to succeed, and to succeed in the U.S., you must reach all people.
