Sales at the five new Mariano’s grocery stores opened so far in 2014 have been "very good," the company’s top executive said on Thursday.
The chain, which is part of Milwaukee-based Roundy’s Inc., still plans to open 16 stores by the end of 2014, and five more stores in 2015, said Roundy’s Chairman and CEO Bob Mariano.
Mariano’s is getting ready to open its sixth store of the year, a location in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood that includes a fireplace, a piano bar and, once the weather gets warmer, a small area for outdoor dining.
