Lucky's Market Looking In Pittsburgh, PA's East End

A nationally known grocer with an organic and local approach is scouting the East End for a location in Pittsburgh.

Lucky’s Market, which has expanded to 15 stores by emphasizing organic, local and gluten-free foods in stores set up in college communities, approached the Bloomfield-Garfield Corp. with interest in taking over the former Bottom Dollar Food store on Penn Avenue, according to Rick Swartz, executive director of the Bloomfield-Garfield Corp. Lucky’s had an interest in the former Bottom Dollar on Penn Avenue along with a couple of Shop ‘n Save franchise operators, said Swartz.

“They’re scouting Pittsburgh,” he said. “They like the fact that Pittsburgh has become a college town.”
