The Legacy 2013 Spring Marketplace was held February 18-20, 2013, at The Omni Champions Gate, Orlando, FL, The event brought together more than 350 Legacy Distributor and Supplier Members for three days of business building opportunities and Outstanding Member awards.
As has become the norm, The Spring Marketplace afforded Legacy the opportunity to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of some of its Distributor and Supplier Members during 2012. The Members were acknowledged for their commitment to The Group, and for going above and beyond in many categories. The same awards are bestowed upon both Distributor and Supplier Members.
As part of its promise to “do things differently”, the Legacy Awards have unique names. Hence, Visionary Awards were presented to William George Company and Perdue Farms, Inc. for their support of Legacy’s unique operating philosophies from its inception, just over 3 years ago.
The Leadership Award is another honor given by Legacy, and this year Legacy recognized Cedar Farms, Inc., and ConAgra Foodservice. The Most Engaged Awards went to Tennessee Hotel Supply Co. and Cavendish Farms
Legacy puts great focus on line conversions and growth for in-program Supplier Members. With true collaboration between suppliers and distributors in mind, The Charger Award was presented to Colony Foods and Epic Industries. Poultry Products Company and Clemens Food Group received The Driver Award given for outstanding increases in program purchases and sales.
Legacy goes to great effort to ensure that Distributor and Supplier Members have every chance to connect at The Marketplace to further their efforts. To that end, The Group combines two sessions of open floor format, one session of Distributor Members in private meeting areas by appointment, and one day of Supplier Members in suites, by appointment. All of this within the 3-intense-day schedule. EVP of Merchandising Don Hughes explains, “We don’t want anyone leaving The Marketplace feeling they did not have an opportunity to meet with all of the Group Members they wished.”
Woven into the schedule was the Annual Legacy CEO Conference. In keeping with the Legacy premise of togetherness, 30 Key Legacy Distributor and Supplier CEOs and Senior Managers came together for an afternoon of Industry Updates and Problem Solving. “The CEO Conference is an opportunity for Group Leaders in the Supply and Distribution arenas to get together in a non-threatening environment to work on problems facing the industry in the future,” commented Legacy CEO Steve Push.
Legacy Foodservice Alliance continues to grow at a rapid pace and now numbers more than 115 distributorlocations. The Fall Marketplace will be tweaked slightly to accommodate this growth, and it is currently under construction. Details of that Marketplace will be released during the month of March.
