Wal-Mart breaks ground Tuesday on its first distribution center in Minnesota, a $75 million project that will help the retailer compete in Target Corp.'s backyard.
"The distribution center that we're opening in Mankato is a very visible signal of our growth in the upper Midwest," Wal-Mart's Director of Corporate Communication Delia Garcia said in an interview.
The 420,000-square-foot Mankato distribution center, when it opens in spring 2015, will employ 300 and supply groceries to Wal-Mart stores in the upper Midwest, Garcia said.
