On-demand grocery delivery service Instacart will be expanding their service area to include three more Chicago suburbs.
These additions will make Instacart delivery available to 650,000 more residents in Oak Park, Oak Lawn and Franklin Park starting April 20. The company already delivers to many areas of the city, as well as a number of other suburbs.
The decision to expand to these suburbs was driven in part by requests on Instacart's site, said Dave Osborne, an Instacart general manager.
"We make (expansion) decisions based on how many customers we see requesting our services in those areas," Osborne said. "That’s the key driver of our expansion strategy. We do also work with our retail partners to understand their coverage, but for this expansion, specifically, it was really all about the customer demand.”
