In 2017, Food Safety Is Front & Center At Legacy Foodservice Alliance

With the many food safety laws, rules and regulations impacting food service distributors, Legacy Foodservice Alliance, the Richmond-based Supply Chain Alliance, has launched a program to aid Independent Food Distributors with compliance. Classes are designed to be small in size, to ensure that attendees are given the attention needed for their success in planning their food safety strategies and procedures. Legacy also offers an onsite option for Members.

“You cannot attend a conference, show or trade event where the topic of food safety is not included” said Steve Push, CEO. “And the impact on the Independent Food Service Distributor is huge – costs, manpower, logistics, and the list goes on.”

Since its founding in 2009, Legacy has focused on providing value and contributing to the good health and well-being of independent foodservice distributors. Deb Winter, EVP of sales shared, “We are much more than a price/product resource for our Members. Regulations like FSMA are complicated. We want to help our Members navigate complex and at times confusing regulations, and create procedures that are in compliance with the new requirements. We have to help them be in-the-know, as the penalties for non-compliance can be harsh.”

Classes began in January with another session in February with 14 companies in attendance.
