Hy-Vee Announces Executive Promotion

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa  — Hy-Vee, Inc. Chairman, CEO and President Randy Edeker recently announced a new executive promotion, the 2016 board of directors, the 2015 Hy-Vee Hall of Fame honorees and award recipients of two newly established Chairman’s Awards at the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting.

Hy-Vee Executive Vice President and Chief Retail Officer Jay Marshall was named Hy-Vee’s new chief operating officer, becoming only the fourth person in the company’s history to hold that title. Marshall will retain all responsibility for retail operations and store development and will assume responsibility for all merchandising areas in the coming months.

At the year-end stockholders’ meeting last month, the Hy-Vee board of directors for 2016 also was announced. The 17-member board includes eight new directors who were elected to a yearlong term. Twelve people were named to the Hy-Vee Hall of Fame, which recognizes employees in categories relating to job performance and community involvement. Honorees were nominated by their peers, with the exception of the 2015 Chairman’s Humanitarian Award winner, who was chosen by Edeker. Edeker also announced a new set of awards. He honored 11 employees with the Chairman’s Spirit of Hy-Vee Award, which recognizes employees who have exemplified Hy-Vee’s fundamentals over the course of their careers. The Chairman’s Leadership Above and Beyond Award was presented to 14 employees who exceptionally performed their jobs throughout the past year.
