SIDNEY, OH – Freshway Foods announces the implementation of their new third party food safety audit program, having earned the SQF 2000 Level 2 accreditation for HACCP Based Food Safety Plans in late July. Chosen for its wide appeal to so many of Freshway’s customers, the SQF 2000 is a three tier certification system that recognizes companies who implement food safety programs beyond the fundamental industry standards.
2011 was the first year for Freshway Foods to participate in the SQF certification program, administered by the SQF Institute (SQFI), a division of the Food Marketing Institute (FMI). The SQF audit is one of three food safety audits that Freshway Foods now participates in annually. “In July, our SQF Practitioner, Tim Redmon, rolled out the new program and led training for our entire operations team,” said Frank Gilardi, co-founder and CEO of Freshway Foods. “I am very proud of our employees’ continued commitment to the quality and food safety standards our customers have come to depend on. “
“Meeting our own internal food safety standards while also being able to accommodate the range of food safety reporting required by our customer base was a key component in our selection of the SQF 2000 program,” said Sam Schlagetter, Director of Quality and Food Safety. “We take great care in the quality of product we process and ship from Freshway Foods, but great customer service and the food safety reporting that is inherit to that customer service is just as high of a priority for us.”
