Fresh Thyme Farmers Markets, a grocery startup that focuses on fresh produce, plans to enter the Twin Cities market in 2014.
The company is targeting states in the Upper Midwest, with plans to open its first store in Chicago in January. It plans to have seven or eight stores by the end of next year, including one location in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Fresh Thyme CEO Chris Sherrell confirmed that the company is close to a deal here, but he declined to disclose the exact location until the lease is finalized.
The company eventually wants eight to 10 stores in Minnesota. The average store size between 26,000 and 28,000 square feet.
