ABINGDON, Va. — Food City recently announced the launch of several exciting new programs designed to bring added value and convenience to their consumers. Among the newest features is their e-ValuCard Savers, which allows shoppers to electronically download manufacturers coupons from the company’s website to their ValuCard.
“We are certainly excited to be able to provide our loyal customers with added savings through our new e-ValuCard Savers program. It’s fast, convenient and extremely easy to use,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.
Shoppers wishing to take advantage of the program simply need to visit Food City’s website at www.foodcity.com and create or log into their existing My Food City account. By clicking on the word “Coupon” from the menu, they can peruse the available offers. Their selections will be electronically tied to their ValuCard and will redeem automatically at the register, when their ValuCard is scanned and the corresponding items purchased. Customers can also view and track their coupon savings through their My Food City account.
Food City’s website also offers online ordering for selected departments throughout the store. Customers can preview and order fresh floral arrangements (for delivery to businesses or pick up in-store), fruit baskets, party trays, holiday dinners, dessert cakes, character sheet cakes and custom sheet cakes. Their orders will be ready for pick-up at the indicated Food City location on the specified date/time.
“This is the first phase of our on-line ordering program,” says Smith. “We are working with our provider to develop additional features and capabilities to further enhance and improve upon our product, as well as add some complementing elements, such as mobile phone applications.”
Food City partnered with VIC, LLC (www.vic.com), headquartered in Knoxville, TN to develop the online ordering solution. Many of the components were completely customized for the retail grocery chain, from the screens viewed by customers when placing orders, to the kiosk software utilized by in-store associates to view them.
Headquartered in Abingdon, Virginia, K-VA-T Food Stores operates 104 retail food outlets throughout the tri-state regions of Southeast Kentucky, Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
VIC, headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, provides retailers with an integrated technology system that allows them to separate themselves from the competition by providing their customers with a unique, unforgettable shopping experience. This unique, integrated, modular system blends both hardware and software products, all delivered centrally over the “Cloud” or the retailer’s headquarters, which can be implemented individually or seamlessly as one intelligent marketing platform.
