Dot Foods Expanding Into Canada; CEO Calls It ‘Major Milestone’

MOUNT STERLING, Ill. — Dot Foods, the nation's largest food industry redistributor, is planning to establish a base of operations in Canada for the first time.

Dot officials announced this week that the company has acquired Marketwest, a Vancouver, British Columbia-based redistributor. The acquisition was official Jan. 1."Moving into Canada is a logical progression for Dot as we look to expand our operations globally," Dot CEO John Tracy said. "We believe this market has the potential for significant growth, and we're very excited about the possibilities."

PJB-Primeline owner Grant Huxtable is dividing the business into two components — food brokerage and redistribution/logistics. Dot purchased the redistribution portion.
