LOUISVILLE, Colo. — Door to Door Organics, a leading natural and organic online grocery store, today announced that it will open a distribution center in Cleveland this spring to service daily deliveries to Cleveland, Akron and more than 20 surrounding communities. On the heels of a successful Milwaukee market launch in February, this is the second major market expansion following the company's Series B financing announcement in the fall of 2014.
The new distribution center is located in the city of Solon, Ohio, and Door to Door Organics plans to begin delivery service with 15 employees, and expects to double local staff numbers by the end of 2015. Future job listings will be continually updated on the company career page.
"Ohio, and specifically Cleveland and Akron, are in an exciting time of reinvestment and a maturing food scene," said Chad Arnold, CEO of Door to Door Organics. "We are eager to be a part of the community, creating new jobs and increasing convenient access to organic produce and natural groceries, especially as we begin to identify the local farmers and producers who want to be connected with Ohio shoppers through our organic food delivery service."
Expansion into Ohio supports Door to Door Organics' proven lean, iterative approach to strategic and profitable growth by targeting a mixture of midsized and Midwest markets. The company's continued, highly-focused expansion is helping fuel the impressive growth trajectory of the online grocery industry. Based on a recent report by IBISWorld, online grocery revenue is forecasted to increase by more than 61 percent by the end of 2019.
During the growing season, Ohio customers will be able to choose from a selection of locally grown produce in their regular weekly or biweekly deliveries without a delivery fee, thanks to a uniquely integrated mix of distributors and farmers offering USDA-certified organic produce. Every box packed and delivered by Door to Door Organics is filled with organic produce and backed by the Door to Door Organics' Joy Delivered Guarantee. Customers can further personalize their box by adding natural groceries and locally produced artisan foods year-round via the comprehensive Shop section of the Door to Door Organics website, with new local producers being added regularly.
Founded in 2005, Door to Door Organics currently operates in 12 markets and 32 cities. Since its founding, Door to Door Organics has made more than 2 million deliveries and expects to acquire 50,000 new customers in 2015.
