Dierbergs has joined efforts with the American Red Cross of Eastern and Western Missouri to raise funds to support hurricane relief efforts.
The checkout program starts today and continues through Monday, Sept. 18. Customers at Dierbergs’ 25 stores will have the opportunity make donations at the registers from set amounts of $1, $5 or $10, or they can make a monetary donation of their choosing.
“The need is so great and overwhelming, and the challenges are changing day by day,” said Laura Dierberg Padousis, executive vice president at Dierbergs. “This effort is designed to get funds to the American Red Cross, where money raised will be assigned to areas when and where they are needed most.”
One-hundred percent of all proceeds raised at Dierbergs will go to the Red Cross, and 91 cents of every dollar will be spent to benefit people impacted by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
The American Red Cross is preparing for Hurricane Irma as it expands relief efforts for Harvey. Financial donations support efforts to provide shelter, food, comfort and emergency support.
"Dierbergs is an important Red Cross partner during this recent crisis. The generous giving brings aid and comfort to countless who suffer in the wake of this tragic disaster,” said Regional Red Cross CEO Cindy Erickson.
