The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. said Wednesday it's selling seven stores in Connecticut to Big Y Foods Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
The sale is part of the company's turnaround strategy announced in July.
The deal is expected to close at the end of October.
A&P is one of the nation's first supermarket chains and currently operates 429 stores in eight states and the District of Columbia under the names A&P, Waldbaum's, Pathmark, Pathmark Sav-a-Center, Best Cellars, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Super Fresh and Food Basics.
