Cupertino is ready to talk about banning the bag. The city is hosting two public meetings to inform residents about a proposed ordinance that would spell the end of single-use plastic bags at many retail establishments within Cupertino.
A meeting for the business community will take place on Jan. 8 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Road. An informational meeting for residents will be held on Jan. 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Cupertino City Hall, 10300 Torre Ave.
Both informational meetings are aimed at preparing the community for a Jan. 15 public hearing, when the Cupertino City Council will review and possibly vote to approve the ordinance.
"We're trying to get out as much information and detail as we can before Jan. 15," said Erin Cooke, the city's environmental affairs coordinator.
