The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. Inc. said Friday it has entered into an agreement with another vendor to supply its stores with shopping bags and other packaging materials.
The Montvale-based grocer said it is now using Bunzl Distribution, based in St. Louis, for its packaging and store supplies needs. The announcement comes after the news Thursday that another shopping bag and packing supplier, Jersey City-based Imperial Bag & Paper Co., had filed suit against A&P, seeking some $3.7 million in overdue payments.
A&P said it plans to file a counterclaim against Imperial Bag & Paper for breach of contract.
