ANAHEIM – Melissa Ybarra Gonzalez reached for an impulse buy Wednesday morning while waiting in checkout line No. 7 at Northgate Gonzalez.
Unlike the other lanes, there were no freshly made Mexican pastries, gummy candies or sodas. Her choices included bananas, cashews, baked green peas and Kind bars. She grabbed a cold bottle of Fiji water from Northgate’s first healthy checkout aisle in Orange County.
“It’s hot and I could use something to quench my thirst,” said Gonzalez, 31, of La Jolla.
