Ahold USA To Transfer Warehouse Operations Out Of Buffalo

LANCASTER, N.Y.- Supermarket company Ahold USA says it will transfer its warehouse operations out of the Buffalo area in a move that will eliminate 600 jobs.

Pennsylvania-based Ahold says Thursday the decision will affect warehouses run by its American Sales Company in the suburbs of Lancaster and Cheektowaga. The operations will be transferred to C&S Wholesale Grocers facilities in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and South Hatfield, Massachusetts. Ahold says the C&S facilities are in better locations to serve its grocery stores.

The company says the transition should be completed by August and that full-time workers will be offered severance packages.
