YUMA-The Farm Fresh Forks program in the nation’s Winter Vegetable Capital of the World, Yuma, AZ continues to grow. In the middle of its fourth season, growers are sharing the fruits of their labor, chefs are showcasing the culinary talents by creating vegetable recipes like no other and guests are being treated to complimentary tastings Tuesday-Saturday in 8 local restaurants.
In addition, each restaurant is hosting its very own Vegetable Tasting Event to put their own twist on veggie happy hours. As the program was designed to mimic the wine tasting industry, guests are learning who is behind the production of healthy vegetables, tasting the chefs’ unique twists to each crop and leaving with a Farm Fresh Cookbook so they can try new vegetable recipes in their own homes.
“Our crops come with stories of multi-generational family farms, the creativity it takes to successfully grow a crop from seed to harvest and the many hours and hands it takes to ensure the entire country has access to fresh, healthy vegetables in a matter of days from harvest. And we couldn’t be happier to partner with chefs who add their culinary creativity, their love for sharing delicious food with their guests and the outlets to reach thousands of consumers and tell our combined story,” shared Cory Mellon, President of the Yuma Fresh Vegetable Association.
