Washington state's strawberry season is coming late because of the cold, wet weather.
“We've seen a late season before and we've had delays before. But this is the latest we’ve ever seen it,” says Gary Remlinger, owner of Remlinger Farms in Carnation, one of many Washington farms affected by the weather.
"The berries look really great, but we probably won’t start picking until (about July 1.) That's three weeks later than usual, " he says.
Remlinger and his wife Bonnie had walked some of the fields just an hour before I spoke with them. "I've just never seen anything like it. Just a few ripe so far, " he says. "But the wait will be worth it."
