Valley Fruit & Produce Awarded A Department Of Defense Contract

Valley Fruit and Produce has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in Philadelphia.  The contract is a maximum $30 million firm-fixed-price with economic-price-adjustment, indefinite-quantity contract to supply fresh fruits and vegetables to USDA customers, Schools and Native American Reservations located throughout Southern California.  The contract is a small business set-aside and is strictly reserved for small business concerns meeting the Small Business Administration’s standards.  Valley’s contract is for an 18 month base period, but there are two options periods that may extend the contract through April 21, 2018.

Carrie La Londe, CFO, is looking forward to servicing the schools and reservations, “This is an especially gratifying contract to be awarded.  Most of our employees have children in the participating districts, and our Team is committed to providing great tasting produce that promotes healthy habits for our children.  This is an exciting time in our industry, with the recent partnership between Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move Campaign” and the PMA and we are thrilled to be a part of the fresh revolution.  For our customer partners that service school districts throughout the country, our learnings will be shared with them as well to promote growth among this segment of their customer base.  For our valued grower partners, conversations about new offerings have started and we look forward to working together to increase consumption among our most discerning customer base – kids.”  Contract performance is slated to begin on December 16, 2013.
