San Francisco, CA — Jacobs, Malcom & Burtt (JMB) recently announced that it will focus exclusively on growing the brokerage and shipping arm of the company and discontinue its street business. Established in San Francisco in 1888, JMB has specialized in buying and selling asparagus for more than 100 years. The growth of the wholesaler’s street business has been fueled by longstanding relationships with its suppliers and customers.
With this transition, Leo Rolandelli, Scott Salisbury and Larry Balestra are pleased to announcethat on April 30, 2012, a new business, S&L Wholesale Produce Company, will open and be based in the former JMB stalls.
Larry’s relationships and connections with farmers and brokers will help the new company develop and set up a local produce department. Scott’s long-term relationships with customers and suppliers and the transfer of JMB’s long-term relationships provide a solid base for the business.
S&L Wholesale Produce Company will not only continue the 130 year tradition started by JMB,but will bring new product lines and energy to the San Francisco Wholesale Produce Market. For photography and to set up an interview, contact Susan Hughes, suzehughes@earthlink.net.
