The Tom Lange Company Increases Fundraising Efforts

Since 1990, the Tom Lange Charitable Foundation has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars, to provide access to health care, grant wishes, ensure hot meals and facilitate education for children in need.“We operate in many cities and in many different countries around the world”, said Mike Smith, Executive Vice-President.  It is our responsibility and privilege to give back to these communities and to the organizations whose goal is to have a positive impact on the lives of children.

The single biggest fundraising effort is through an annual charity golf tournament with proceeds from the event benefiting children’s charities in that city in which it is held.  The 2011 event was held in Toronto and resulted in over $30,000 being donated to NOAH Canada and the SickKids Foundation  NOAH is a South African based non-governmental organization whose goal is to help the children of South Africa who have been orphaned by AIDS. The SickKids Foundation is recognized as one the world’s foremost pediatric health-care institution and is Canada’s leading center dedicated to advancing children’s health.

To further the goal of giving back to the communities where we operate and with Thanksgiving approaching, the Foundation is helping families by supplying fruit for food baskets that will be distributed throughout the Central Illinois Area.

This fall the Foundation added an additional fundraising event by supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month through participation in a local Springfield, Illinois fundraiser. “With Breast Cancer Awareness experiencing increased presence and support in the produce industry we felt it was our obligation to back a cause which has touched so many of our own lives”, said Becky Wilson, Assistant Vice-President.  We helped raise over $10,000 which was donated to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.

In addition to the local campaign, the Tom Lange Co. supported the Produce for Pink campaign at the PMA by collecting donations at the booth.  We are fortunate enough to be a part of an industry that is not only committed to supplying safe and healthy food to the world but is also committed to giving back.  Examples of this commitment include promoting healthy eating in schools, supporting local community charities, or supporting and raising funds for national health issues. The Tom Lange Company and all of our associates’ look forward to surpassing our 2011 fundraising efforts in upcoming year.
