WATSONVILLE, CALIF – The California Strawberry Commission (CSC) will kick off a five-day community outreach event in the Los Angeles area on National Night Out August 1, 2017 at Pershing Square at 5:00 p.m. to connect local communities with California strawberry farmers, share unique strawberry dishes, while also raising funds for No Kid Hungry. All food truck proceeds will go to the Los Angeles branch of Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign.
“California communities are home to hundreds of strawberry farmers who grow 90 percent of the nation’s strawberries,” said Carolyn O’Donnell, communications director, California Strawberry Commission. “Getting out into the community gives us an opportunity to help make a real connection between strawberry family-farmers and local families in the Los Angeles area.”
Throughout the week, there will be opportunities to purchase strawberry dishes to benefit No Kid Hungry, along with opportunities to enjoy free strawberry samples.
